📁 Creating and Managing Folders in Digs
What are folders used for in Digs?
Folders help you organize project files—from construction documents to design plans—into clear, structured categories. You can create and manage folders within individual projects or in DigsCloud, which houses Company Files and Project Files.
🛠️ How to Create Folders
In a Project (Project Files):
Navigate to the Files tab from the right-side Dynamic Island.
Click “New Folder.”
Name your folder (e.g., “Blueprints” or “Permits”).
Click “Create Folder.”
In DigsCloud (Company & Project Files):
Go to DigsCloud via the File menu at the top.
Choose between Company Files or Project Files.
Click “New Folder,” name it, and organize it as needed.
📤 Uploading & Moving Files
Drag and Drop files into a folder
Or click “Upload Files” and select from your computer
Or click “Upload from Dropbox” to seamlessly pull in documents from your Dropbox account
Move files by dragging or using the “Move to Folder” option
🔐 Managing Folders & Permissions
Folder Actions:
Rename: Click 3 Dot kebab (⋮) → Rename
Move: Drag new files and folders into the project or folder (note: moving a private folder to a public one will make it public)
Delete: Click 3 Dot kebab (⋮) → Delete (restricted files may block deletion)
Share: Click 3 Dot kebab (⋮) → Publish or Share (if already publish)
Manage Access: Use the kabob menu (⋮) → Manage Access
🔒 Understanding Folder Permissions & Inheritance
In DigsCloud:
Folders inherit permissions from their parent folder
Create Limited Access Folders to secure content
You can override access on subfolders or files if needed
Moving folders resets permissions—always double-check after moving
📌 Example: Moving a secure folder to a public root folder will make it public unless updated manually.
In Projects:
Folders are shared with project members only
Assign roles like Editor or Collaborator for file access
🔁 Using the “Copy To” Feature
Quickly copy files or folders from DigsCloud → Projects using:
Click 3 Dot kebab (⋮) on a folder/file → Copy To
Choose your target project and destination
Click Copy
Ideal for reusing templates or standard documentation across projects.
💡 Pro Tips for Better Folder Management
Organize by category (e.g., "Permits", "Contracts", "Designs")
Use clear, descriptive folder names
Review permissions regularly, especially for sensitive content
Use inheritance smartly to reduce permission errors
Leverage Copy To for faster project setup and consistency
