What are annotations in Digs?
Annotations allow you to visually communicate changes, ideas, and feedback directly on blueprints, images, and documents. Whether you're highlighting an issue or suggesting a revision, annotations make it easy to collaborate in real-time—no need to refresh or reload the app.
Why should I use annotations?
Visually explain ideas and changes
Collaborate faster with your team
Mark up specific areas of concern directly on a plan
Eliminate the need to track physical blueprints or separate notes
Keep your documents organized and up-to-date with real-time input
How do I annotate a document in Digs?
Choose your tool from the annotation menu:
✏️ Draw/Erase – Freehand markups with pencil, pen or highlighter
➡️ Arrow Tool – Used as a selector tool
⭘ Shapes & Clouds – Highlight areas with clean callouts and shapes
📝 Text Box – Add notes or instructions
📏 Measure - Take linear or area measurements
Click directly on the blueprint or document to add your annotations

Can I hide annotations when I don’t need them?
Yes! Simply use the toggle at the bottom of your screen to hide or show annotations. This helps keep your workspace clean when you want to focus on the underlying document or blueprint.

Can I erase or remove annotations?
Yes. Use the Erase tool to remove any annotation you no longer need. Only collaborators with edit access can remove shared annotations.
Are annotations live and collaborative?
Absolutely! All annotations update in real time, so your team can see markups and changes as they happen—without needing to refresh the page.
Where can I annotate?
You can annotate on:
Floor plans
Uploaded blueprints
Images
PDFs and other supported documents
Pro Tip: Use the Cloud shape to easily draw attention to high-priority items or changes—perfect for quick reviews or walkthroughs with clients or subcontractors.
Why does this matter?
Annotations help capture decisions, clarify intent, and prevent miscommunication—all in one place. They're a simple but powerful way to keep everyone on the same page, literally.
